Youth Service

Youth Service (Sai Kung District) Office, Social Welfare Department is responsible for liaising with the youth & community units and coordinating related services.

 

Children and Youth Centre

It aims at encouraging children and youth to engage in meaningful activities and pursuits to reach out into the community with a view to assist them with their personal development, family & other personal relationship, and to develop broader community and international perspectives. It also helps children and youth to face challenges and difficulties in their personal growth.

Target groups:children and the youth aged between 6 to 24


Core Programs:

1. guidance and counselling

2. supportive services for children and youth in disadvantaged circumstances

3. socialization program

4. develop social responsibility and competence of the youth


Other Programs: interest groups, summer youth programs, study / reading room services.


There are 2 children and youth centres in Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung district.

 

Integrated Children and Youth Services Centre

Integrating the children and youth centre services, outreach social services and school social work services, integrated children and youth services centre provides appropriate services to meet the multifarious needs of children and youth for their growth and development.

There are 8 integrated children and youth services centres in Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung district.

 

Youth Outreaching Social Work Service

The responsibility of youth outreaching social work team is to contact with those young people aged between 6-24 who normally do not participate in conventional social and youth activities and are vulnerable to undesirable influences. The team usually locates the target groups in places where the young people usually go to, such as sports grounds and fast food shops to perform counseling, or to provide other related services in an effort to explore their potential and let them re-integrate into the community.

There are 3 youth outreaching social work teams in Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung district.

 

After School Care Program

The program targets for children aged between 6 to 12 whose parents are unable to provide proper care to them after school owing to work or other reasons. It aims at enhancing their ability in self care, assisting them in developing regular life pattern and encouraging them to take part in extra-curricular activities. It also provides home-work guidance services, meal services, parental guidance and education, skill learning and other social activities.

There are 8 centres providing after school care services in Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung district.

 

Uniformed Groups

The groups aim at enhancing the physical, intellectual, social and psychological development of children and youth aged between 7 to 25 through various activities. The Groups help strengthen their international concerns in order to enhance personal growth and their sense of belongings in the community.

There are several Uniformed Groups in Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung district. 4 of them set up offices in this district.
