Service Arrangements of Specialist Out-patient Clinics for Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal and “Extreme Condition”Note


In the event of issuance of Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, or “extreme condition” announcement by the Hong Kong Observatory, the Specialist Out-patient Clinics of the Hospital Authority will make the following service arrangements:

The Time when the Warning Signal/“Extreme condition” is Issued/Cancelled Service Arrangements of Specialist Out-patient Clinics
Issued before 9:00am and will still be in force after 9:00am Clinics will be closed until further notice.
Issued during clinic service hours Clinic services will be suspended until further notice.

For Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, clinic staff will consider the weather and traffic situations and arrange the departure of patients under safe conditions.

For Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, services will be provided to patients who have arrived at the clinic.
For clinics operating on Monday to Friday
Cancelled before 10:30am Clinic services will be resumed as soon as practicable within two hours after the warning signal/“extreme condition” is cancelled. However, if an “extreme condition” is in force after the cancellation of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8, clinic services will remain suspended.

Patients who cannot attend the appointment as scheduled should make re-booking arrangement according to instructions on the appointment slip.
Cancelled at or after 10:30am and before 2:30pm Morning sessions of the clinics will be cancelled.

Afternoon sessions of the clinic services will be resumed as soon as practicable within two hours after the warning signal/“extreme condition” is cancelled. However, if an “extreme condition” is in force after the cancellation of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8, clinic services will remain suspended.

Patients who have appointments in the morning or cannot attend the appointment as scheduled in the afternoon should make re-booking arrangement according to instructions on the appointment slip.
Cancelled at or after 2:30pm Clinic services will remain suspended in the afternoon.
For clinics operating on Saturday morning
Cancelled before 10:30am Clinic services will be resumed as soon as practicable within two hours after the warning signal/“extreme condition” is cancelled. However, if an “extreme condition” is in force after the cancellation of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8, clinic services will remain suspended.

Patients who cannot attend appointment as scheduled should make re-booking arrangement according to instructions on the appointment slip.
Cancelled at or after 10:30am Clinic services will remain suspended for the rest of the day.

Patients are advised to pay attention to the public announcements of Hospital Authority made via the radio and television for service arrangements after the issuance/cancellation of Black Rainstorm Warning Signal, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal and “extreme condition”.

Patients may contact the relevant clinics for enquiries during office hours after the cancellation of warning signals/“extreme condition”.


Note: Under certain “extreme conditions” caused by super typhoons, such as serious disruption of public transport services, extensive flooding, major landslides or large-scale power outage, the Government will review the situation and decide whether it is necessary to issue an announcement on “extreme conditions”.
