Introduction

Kai Tak Hospital (KTH) is scheduled for commissioning in 2026, with the services of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) being gradually relocated to KTH. KTH provides high-quality public healthcare services to residents of Yau Tsim Mong, Kowloon City, Wong Tai Sin and Kwun Tong.

As one of the largest acute general hospitals in Hong Kong, KTH comprises five buildings, namely the “Acute Block” (Tower 1), “Administration Block” (Tower 2), “Education & Training Block” (Tower 3), “Specialist Out-patient Clinic Block” (Tower 4) and “Oncology Block” (Tower 5), providing 2,400 beds, 37 operating theatres and a wide range of clinical services and facilities. In addition, KTH is one of the designated “Trauma Centres”, providing 24-hour accident and emergency services (A&E) with comprehensive facilities to handle various types of emergencies, major incidents and disasters.

To strengthen community-based healthcare services, the Family Medicine Integrated Centre at KTH provides Family Medicine out-patient services and a range of other primary healthcare services to the public. The centre also offers nursing services, such as smoking cessation counselling, vaccinations, drug injection, wound dressing and health education.

Furthermore, the “Specialist Out-patient Clinic Block” consolidates a wide range of specialties, including Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Neurosurgery, as well as rehabilitation services. It is expected to handle over 1.4 million specialist out-patient attendances annually.

KTH collaborates closely with Kwong Wah Hospital to provide A&E services for KCC, and will maintain strong connections with Kowloon Hospital, Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital, Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital and the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital in KCC to provide rehabilitation services for patients.
