Introduction Opened in 1972, Siu Lam Hospital is the only hospital in Hong Kong providing comprehensive rehabilitation and infirmary services exclusively for patients with severe intellectual disability aged 16 or above. Apart from medical and psychiatric treatment, mental handicap nursing care, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, prosthetic and orthotic services, medical social services as well as social education training are also provided. In addition, through home visits, the outreach team of the hospital assists those persons on the central waiting list for severe mental handicap infirmary services with living in the community. The hospital offers a spacious and comfortable environment conducive to the treatment and recovery of the patients. To enhance patient care, the premises is furnished with tailor-made facilities including healthcare chairs, auxiliary equipment, ceiling hoist system, a multi-sensory room, a computer-aided rehabilitation room, rehabilitation gardens, etc. Scope of Services
