Heart disease ranks the second disease-killer in Hong Kong. In view of this, Cardiac Rehabilitation service was established in Tung Wah Eastern Hospital in February 1999 to cater for eligible in-patients with heart failure. Through health education and exercise training, we aim to increase the functional and self-care ability of patients with heart failure so as to minimize the need for admission and re-admission. The programme not only enhances patients' understanding of the cardiac disease, but also enables them to be as functional independent as possible so as to improve their quality of life.
