Since
the establishment of the Diabetes Centre in 1992, it
has been providing a wide range of consultation, health education
and complication screening services. With years of implementation
of the Diabetes Nurse clinic, which was pioneered
in the Centre since 1997, the centre aims at providing comprehensive
and professional care services to the patients.
In view of the rising demand on the Diabetes Mellitus services, the Centre was further expanded into the Integrated Diabetes Mellitus Research and Training Centre in 2002 to provide more comprehensive and quality service to the community. Other services likes exercising class and cooking class are launched as well. Moreover, the Centre has been working closely with the General Practitioners and healthcare institutions through Diabetes Shared Care Program with a view to reinforce the public-private collaboration in provision of diabetic care services as well as to promote diabetes health education.
