Hospital Authority Smoking Counselling and Cessation Programme



For many years, a number of medical researches have found that smoking can lead to various serious diseases such as lung cancer, heart diseases, and stroke.

Smoking counselling and cessation services will be provided by health care professionals at Smoking Counselling and Cessation Centres, assisting smokers to quit smoking by offering them professional counselling and follow-up services as well as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) if needed. The centres will also provide information and advice to smokers' relatives and friends who may wish to help the smokers to quit smoking. Currently, Eligible Persons could receive relevant services at Hospital Authority’s Smoking Counselling and Cessation Centres free of charge.

Another feature of the service is that frontline health care staff will proactively promote smoking cessation services to smokers, and the primary target groups of the service are inpatients and outpatients who are smokers.

Service Hours Service hours on Monday to Friday is from 9:00am to 5:00pm and from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday. During non-service hours, callers can leave their name, contact number and district of residence as voice mail so that the relevant smoking cessation counsellors can follow up with them.
