Service Demand Surge

To cope with the surge in service demand, the Hospital Authority (HA) has put in place a comprehensive phasic response plan, and would continue to monitor the daily service statistics of public hospitals (including the number of first attendances at Accident and Emergency Departments (A&Es), the number of inpatient admissions to medical wards via A&Es and the inpatient bed occupancy rates) as well as the laboratory positivity rates of influenza and COVID-19, etc., in order to enable timely and flexible implementation of service demand surge measures.

Service Demand Surge

The HA is now in a stage of service demand surge. The number of attendances at A&Es and the number of inpatient admissions are on the rise. The HA has increased the bed capacity and enhanced the support to A&Es, wards, laboratory and outreach services in accordance to the phasic response plan. The waiting time for A&E services may increase and access block may occur due to the full occupancy of wards. If situation allows, members of the public may consider using private outpatient service. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
