Introduction

Opened in 1972, this is the only hospital in Hong Kong that is entirely dedicated to providing comprehensive and integrated convalescent, rehabilitation and infirmary services for severely mentally-handicapped adult patients. Apart from medical and psychiatric treatment, they receive nursing care, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, prosthetic and orthotic, medical social as well as social education services. To assist their recovery, the Hospital offers patients an environment that is both comfortable and stimulating, with special seating and assistive equipment, a multi-sensory room, a computer-aided rehabilitation room, a hydrotherapy pool, colourful wall murals and a rehabilitation garden. Its outreach team also serves patients in the community.
