Pharmacy Department
Pharmacy department provide pharmaceutical, dressing and medical equipment for wards and departments of KCH. The department has undergone major computerization including the Pharmaceutical Management Systems for in-patient and out-patient dispensing, and the Pharmaceutical Supplies System for the procurement and store maintenance of pharmaceutical items.
Scope of Services
1. In-Patient and Out-Patient Services
Pharmacists review the medication administration records and dispense drugs to patients.
2. Drug Information Services
The department provides drug information services for medical and other professional staff. Educational Talks are held for patients. Pharmacy Bulletins, Drug Alerts and Updates are published periodically for medical and professional staff.
3. Clinical Services
The department monitors patient drug profiles through the Computerized Automatic Refill System (CARS) to verify correct drug dosages, to prevent possible drug interactions and to optimize drug regimen based on cost and effectiveness.
4. DocuMed
To provide drug dispensing services outside the pharmacy working hours, the DocuMed contains commonly used drugs in a semi-automatic dispensing machine.
