HA Convention 2005 New Frontiers in Population Health
  Convention Theme

Since 1993, the Hospital Authority has been organizing an annual convention every year to promote the sharing of experience among fellow healthcare professionals. Last year, about 2,500 clinicians and healthcare professionals, including health service executives and clinical staff, from 9 overseas countries, China and Hong Kong attended the Hospital Authority Convention 2004 and the Hong Kong SARS Forum to share their scientific reviews and findings, and exchange their views and experiences.

The last SARS epidemic has imposed an overwhelming social and economic impact upon the society as well as the existing healthcare system. The Government has reacted quickly to revamp its healthcare policies. Healthcare professionals are also obliged to reassess service needs and to redefine priorities, directions and service objectives. The Hospital Authority Convention 2005 will again invite internationally renowned academics and experts to share their views, achievements and innovative ideas in the exploration of a more dynamic and sustainable healthcare system. Building on this invaluable experience, healthcare professionals will explore ideas to enhance clinical management, healthcare services, and ultimately for the health of the community. With a gathering of such distinguished and celebrated speakers from all over the world, the Hospital Authority Convention 2005 is definitely an event not to be missed.

The main theme of the Hospital Authority Convention 2005 "New Frontiers in Population Health" brings into focus the importance of adaptations, innovations and creativity in the provision of healthcare service in this era of change. It is also underpinned by the following sub-themes:

  • Enhancing Healthcare System Sustainability
  • Building Human Resources Capability
  • Enhancing Organization Performance
  • Enhancing Community & Primary Care
  • Improving on Quality and Clinical Governance

The above sub-themes are developed from the Hospital Authority Annual Plan 2004/05.
