The SARS outbreak in 2003 has posed a challenge to global health care. The international health care community will benefit from experience sharing and joint strategic planning in the prevention and management of SARS. Since 1993, the Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA) has organized an international convention every year to promote sharing of experience among fellow health care professionals. Over 1,500 clinicians and healthcare professionals from overseas, China and Hong Kong attended the HA Convention each year. HA Convention 2004 will again invite internationally renowned academics and experts to share their views and achievements and to explore innovative ideas on sustainable health care. In addition, a special Hong Kong SARS Forum will be held this year for sharing and reviewing the SARS experience. Health care professionals will be able to build on this valuable experience a better foundation for enhancement of clinical management and heatlh care services. With a gathering of such distinguished and celebrated speakers from all over the world, the HA Convention 2004 is definitely an event not to be missed.
